The 3Doodler RC Plane Project
This is a page dedicated to a one stop shop for all my 3Doodler Plane blog posts.
The 3Doodler Plane has been the main focus of MattBdreaming for the last few months in this first half of 2014. It’s been a bit more MattBmaking than MattBdreaming. It’s a project I am still working on but I am so close to completion.
For me it has been taking a new technology, the 3Doodler, and using it for something I had only previously dreamed of doing. The 3Doodler may not be the best medium to use for RC plane construction; the plane I build might not be the best RC plane ever made; but it’s more important to me to just see if it can be done.
In a way, if I can make the 3Doodler plane fly then perhaps I can do all the other things I dream about: today a 3Doodler RC plane, tomorrow a 3D printed solar updraft towers made of sand!

It all started when I got my 3Doodler – Johnny 5 was one of the first things I made, this post also covers the initial concept to build a plane. Also I have to include the Johnny 5 Build here because he appears in almost all of the 3Doodler Plane posts!
A small scale trial to see how well I could build a plane.
The 3Doodler Plane Build in all its glory!
Development of the RC controls.
Mounting the motor in 3Doodle.
Getting it all working now.
All the RC kit working in glorious union.. right up to the point where I break it.
The first powered flight test was 21st May 2014 and I’m counting it as a flight!
