Quadrocopters

I have been watching with great interest as people all around the world are starting to do amazing things with quadrocopters. They are capable of precisely controlled motion and are getting better all the time. The applications for these things are wide ranging and I hope to talk about them more soon and specifically how they can be used in the construction industry.

For now, take a look at some amazing videos

This is pretty new and is used in a new Lexus add, the final add using some CG to support the live fottage

This one has been around for a while but show some great versatility.

And last but not least a video I keep getting people to look at, especially when I start talking about construction site survey.

    • Yes I have and its the sort of thing that’s right up the dreaming street. Its a great idea and will probably happen at some point, especially with a company like Amazon leading the pack to take the dream to reality. 5 years is a bit optimistic though, not because of the technology but because of airspace regulations and safety etc… Privacy is also a major issue as these things will need to have cameras and data recording built in to operate properly. Take a look at the CAA to find out more http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1995.
The regulations covering UAV’s are under close scrutiny and review around the world at the moment lets hope we find some way of letting these things loose.
Also worth taking a look at waterstones proposed delivery method for a bit of a giggle. http://www.waterstones.com/blog/2013/12/introducing-o-w-l-s/
